At the Blue Lagoon, we warmly welcome guests from all backgrounds, including diverse ethnicities, religions, and genders. We are committed to continuously improving our facilities to better accommodate everyone. Our goal is to ensure every guest has a positive experience and leaves with unforgettable memories

Wellbeing in otherworldly nature
The Blue Lagoon is more than a lagoon—it’s a haven of comfort, rejuvenation, and wellbeing. With in-water bars, saunas, a steam room, a cold plunge, a quiet area, and in-water treatment options, the Blue Lagoon is a haven of wellbeing.

The water
The iconic blue water is a unique phenomenon, found nowhere else on earth. Created deep within the bedrock, the water is about 30% freshwater and 60% seawater. We call this combination geothermal seawater.
Two thousand meters within the earth, ocean water and freshwater converge in searing heat and extreme pressure, creating geothermal seawater. Drawn to the surface through geothermal extraction wells, the water emerges enriched with silica, algae, and minerals—the bioactive elements that give this unique water its healing, rejuvenating, nourishing abilities.
Once it reaches the surface, the water’s temperature is a balmy 38°C. The lagoon water completely renews itself through a natural process about every 48 hours, ensuring a clean and healthy lagoon for all.

We recommend that all guests wash thoroughly after spending time in the lagoon and take care to condition their hair.
When leaving the lagoon, guests scan their bracelets at self-service terminals by the exits and are prompted to pay for any purchase made when in the lagoon. Once payment is complete, the bracelets are used to exit the final set of gates. Staff are ready to help when needed.
After exiting, guests can relax at Blue Café and enjoy a beverage or snacks while waiting or regrouping.

Disabled guests
There is special equipment on site for guests requiring assistance getting into the lagoon. Note that due to the high salinity and silica content of the water, it is not possible to use walkers when in the water.
All changing rooms that accommodate disabled guests can be found on the ground floor. Extra assistance is available on request.

Children
The Blue Lagoon is not suitable for children under 2 years of age, due to the high silica, mineral, and algae content of the water.
Children aged 2-13 enter the lagoon free of charge but must share a locker with their parent or guardian.
We strongly recommend children wear armbands or floaties. We provide inflatable armbands on site.

Hair care
Due to the water’s composition, hair may get matted or tangled if it gets wet in the lagoon—much like when swimming in the sea. We recommend that all guests apply conditioner to wet hair and leave it in, before entering the lagoon. We also recommend that guests with long hair tie their hair back or use a swim cap.
If hair gets wet when in the lagoon, it will feel somewhat stiff after the visit. This is not permanent, and 2-3 washes will resolve the issue.
We provide shampoos, conditioners, and shower gel in all showers.
