Balancing purpose and profit

B Corp stands for "B Corporation," referring to businesses that have received certification from B Lab™. B Lab is a non-profit organization; a global movement that aims to transform business practices on a global scale to benefit all people, communities, and the environment. The organization is built on the belief that all companies should measure and assess their impact—on the environment, individuals, communities, etc.—equally with financial performance. B Lab believes in an alternative, more inclusive, and sustainable economy, where companies harness their power of business for good.

We go beyond

To achieve its mission, B Lab has developed a specific assessment tool to effectively evaluate the actual impact of various companies from different sectors. The result is a global movement of businesses that meet rigorous standards of transparency and responsibility towards the environment, nature, and society as a whole. B Corp companies have demonstrated that they aim to bring benefits to all their stakeholders—not just shareholders—including employees, customers, communities, and the environment, and commit to doing so into the future. B Corp certified companies unite in a commitment to pursuing a greater goal than merely financial profits. Together, they aim to accelerate a global shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive economy.

The "B" in B Corp stands for "Benefit for all". This principle aligns seamlessly with the values that Blue Lagoon has upheld since its inception. We have consistently assessed and evaluated our performance based on the social, economic, and environmental impacts of our operations. New standards

To obtain B Corp certification, companies must undergo a rigorous assessment where all aspects of their operations are thoroughly examined by independent evaluators. The assessment is divided into five categories; governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.

Points are awarded in each category. A minimum of 80 points is required to receive certification. Blue Lagoon achieved a score of 98.6 points in the certification process.

Workers

How a company cares for its employees, improving their lives and well-being.

Community

How a company affects the community, giving back and creating social value.

Environment

How a company prioritizes the environmental impact of its operations.

Customers

The environment and experience a company creates for its customers and the impact they have on their lives.

Why go B?

The B Corp certification process allows us at Blue Lagoon to systematically assess and measure the impact our operations have on all our stakeholders. This assessment lays the groundwork for continuous improvement. For Blue Lagoon, B Corp certification not only validates the good work we have accomplished, but also provides us with a guiding framework for future progress. B Corp certification is not merely a badge of honor; it's a commitment to good deeds, now and onwards. We are immensely proud to belong to this group of companies that are driving a shift towards a more sustainable global economy.

Looking ahead

A B Corp certification is valid for three years. Companies seeking to maintain their certification after this time must undergo an evaluation process. B Corp standards are rapidly changing with the requirements continually becoming more stringent. Regular assessment ensures that companies improve if necessary and meet the strictest B Corp certification criteria.

Blue Lagoon commits to meeting these requirements and further aims to be at the forefront of companies that operate with consideration for all their stakeholders, including the environment, nature, society, employees, and guests.
