Dream-like spaces 

Built into an 800-year-old lava field by the Blue Lagoon, Retreat Spa is a space where nature, design, and the natural gifts of geothermal seawater come together in complete harmony. Covering 2,300 square meters, or just under 25,000 square feet, the spa journey moves through different yet cohesive experience areas. Moving from dry heat to a cold plunge, to a steam bath, the spa also offers spaces for quiet contemplation in or beside the mineral-rich warmth of the Retreat Lagoon. Lava rock encircles the terraced, private lagoon, where the build-up of natural silica adds a unique texture. With its canyons, corridors, and open spaces, this enchanting lagoon is a uniquely tranquil way to enjoy the healing properties of geothermal seawater. 

The spa journey culminates with the Blue Lagoon Ritual, bringing you into harmony with the nourishing wonders of the volcanic earth. There, intimate access to the treasures of the Blue Lagoon water—silica, algae, and minerals—creates a soothing and restorative wellbeing ritual that is as indulgent as it is potent.

Delicate dishes 

Spa Restaurant serves light and nutritious courses, where guests can dine in their robes and take in the calming views over the spa’s lagoon in between lounging, relaxing, or getting pampered. The fresh, energizing fare is just right for a spa day and are perfect to enjoy before, during or after a visit.  

Mindfulness and privacy 

Retreat Spa offers either five-hour access or a full day pass. Spa access is included for hotel guests, who have exclusive use of the lagoon from 20:00-22:00. The whole spa is technology-free, meaning guests leave all smartphones, tablets, and cameras behind and step into the spa ready to enjoy the present moment away from all modern distractions. 

For extra exclusivity, Retreat Spa guests can book the Lava Cove–a spa suite with a private lagoon filled with the same iconic blue water as both the Blue Lagoon and Retreat Lagoon. Included in the Lava Cove admission fee is a private, kitchen, fireplace, lounge chairs, blankets and pillows, a Bluetooth sound system, and more amenities, making the stay feel like the ultimate indulgence.
