Terms & Cancellation Policy

 

These are the General Terms of Service and Cancellation Policy of Blue Lagoon hf., registered at Svartsengi, 240 Grindavík, Iceland.

These terms and policies apply to all guests visiting the Blue Lagoon and the Retreat Spa purchasing their services/products at www.bluelagoon.com, hereafter called website.

 

1. Prices and payments.

All purchases made through the website require full payment with a credit card at the time of purchase. Prices include VAT and all other taxes and service fees. Prices quoted can change without notice. After payment has been made and/or an invoice has been issued, the price is guaranteed against any surcharge, unless a price increase is due to government laws or currency changes.

 

2. Online Purchases.

Admission that includes multiple services and/or products are solely based on availability at the time of visit. All the products and/or services included in admission type, e.g. reservations at restaurants, massage reservations, accessories and more, are subject to availability. Should these services/products be unavailable for any reason, you will be entitled to either a refund of that particular service/product or change your booking to another time and/or date without having to pay any change fee.

 

3. E-tickets.

When you book your admission at the website, you will receive your ticket via email. It contains a barcode that will be scanned on arrival. You can either print out the ticket and have it with you, or show it for scanning on your phone/device. The ticket may only be used once. All subsequent usages will be refused. The identification of the holder can be requested at the entrance with the actual credit card that was used at the time of purchase and/or a valid photo identity card.

Unlawful resale or attempted resale is grounds for seizure and cancellation without compensation. Tickets obtained from unauthorized sources may be lost, stolen or counterfeit, and if so are void. Tickets are not redeemable for cash. It is illegal to reproduce them in any form.

The ticket is valid only at the date and time selected in the booking process and clearly stated on the ticket you received after completing your purchase. If you don’t arrive at the pre-booked date and time, Blue Lagoon cannot guarantee availability.

When you book a private changing room at the Retreat Spa, the changing room will be reserved for the date and time you selected. If you arrive late, your stay will not be extended. The time slot you reserved is for 4 hours, starting at the arrival time of your booking.

 

4. Amending a booking.

If you wish to make any changes to your confirmed booking, fees will apply. A fee of ISK 1400 will apply for each change made to your booking. To amend a booking, please send us a request via e-mail at contact@bluelagoon.com and reference your original booking confirmation number. You cannot change the date or time of a booking after the originally selected date/time has passed.

5. Cancelling a booking 

5a. Blue Lagoon.

All cancellations must be presented to Blue Lagoon in writing, via e-mail, to the address contact@bluelagoon.com. Blue Lagoon will always keep 10% of the total booking amount, regardless of the time of cancellation. Otherwise, cancellation charges are as follows (days of notice are based on date/time of arrival):

If you cancel with more than 3 days’ notice: 90% is refunded

If you cancel with 1-3 days’ (24-72 hours) notice: 50% is refunded

If you cancel with less than 24 hours’  notice: No refund is made

 

5b. Retreat spa.

All cancellations must be presented to Blue Lagoon in writing, via e-mail, to the address retreatspa@bluelagoon.com. Blue Lagoon will always keep 10% of the total booking amount, regardless of the time of cancellation. Otherwise, cancellation charges are as follows (days of notice are based on date/time of arrival):

If you cancel with more than 4 days’ notice: 90% is refunded

If you cancel with 2-4 days’ (48-96 hours) notice: 50% is refunded

If you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice: No refund is made

Blue Lagoon reserves the right to change or cancel all bookings and reservations in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control, such as equipment malfunction, natural hazards, unfavorable weather or outside conditions, or any other similar events that could result in the temporary closure of the Blue Lagoon. If the booking is cancelled by Blue Lagoon due to any of these reasons, you will be entitled to either a full refund or change your booking to another date and/or departure without having to pay any change fee.

 

6. Transfer.

Bus transfers to/from Blue Lagoon to/from Reykjavik and the International Airport (KEF) is available as an add-on in the booking process. The transportation is operated by our partner, Destination Blue Lagoon. When you book a transfer with your entrance package, you will receive an email from Destination Blue Lagoon, which contains the transportation voucher.

 

7. Liability and insurance.

Blue Lagoon disclaims responsibility for any loss, damage, accidents, sickness or changes in schedule caused by weather, strikes or any other irregularity outside the company’s control and for expenses due to any of these reasons. Blue Lagoon disclaims responsibility for any guest valuables that might get lost or damaged during the visit. All such losses and expenses are the personal liability of the guest.

We advise all our customers to have valid travel insurance. This insurance should be obtainable in your country of residence and usually covers cancellation fees and, to some extent, accidents that might occur.

 

8. General provisions.

You agree that any claim, action or lawsuit arising out of these terms and conditions and/or the services/products purchased, shall be interpreted and governed in conformity with Icelandic law. For any legal dispute which may arise, both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction and competence of the Judges and Courts of the town of Reykjanesbaer, Iceland.

 

9. Terms amendments.

We reserve the right to change these Terms of Service and Cancellation Policy at any time. The date of the last revision of these Terms of Service is set at the bottom of this page. Your continued use of the website after any such modifications will constitute your acknowledgement of the modified Terms and agreement to abide by the modified Terms.
