The Blue Lagoon enlargement opened
Last Thursday the President of Iceland, Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, laid the cornerstone to the new Lava restaurant at Blue Lagoon Iceland. Approximately 800 guests joined the Blue Lagoon staff in celebrating this event, the opening of the new facilities and the enlargement construction’s phase-out.
The changing rooms were redesigned and extended so our guests now have more comfort and space. In addition, the Blue Lagoon now offers Exclusive Bath and Lounge, with private changing rooms, an indoor Lounge with a fireplace and a reserved indoor lagoon.
The new Lava restaurant & bar is built into the lava so it features a natural lava wall within the restaurant, adding to its uniqueness. Lava restaurant seats as many as 300 guests and accommodates as many as 550 during stand-up receptions.
A glass staircase leads people to the Bar and Lounge area on the second floor. The roof of the restaurant is a viewing platform with beautiful view of the lagoon and the surrounding area. On the second floor there’s a bar where guests can enjoy a pre-dinner drink or relax in a comfortable surrounding.
A new Blue Lagoon shop has also opened featuring a beautiful glass artwork by Icelandic artist Rúrí which Dorrit Moussaieff, first lady of Iceland inaugurated on Thursday.
The Blue Lagoon’s facilities have now doubled in size and are 3000 square meters.
