The Blue Lagoon participates in the LIPIDO research project „Optimizing Lipid Production by Planktonic Algae. “ The project is a Northern European co-operative project supported by the Northern European Energy Research Project „N-INNER. “ The National Energy Fund is a participant of the Northern European Project.
The goal of the project is to support Energy Research in the Nordic countries and in Germany and to share knowledge on energy research between the countries.
The Blue Lagoon has grown algae for use in Blue Lagoon skin care since 1996 and a valuable knowledge of the subject has been built up within the company. Ása Brynjólfsdóttir, Blue Lagoon‘s director of Research and Development says that the grant is both important and an encouragement to continue the company‘s development of growing micro algae.
