LAVA Restaurant combines modern design with the wild spirit of Icelandic nature.

Built into a stunning lava cliff, with views over the lagoon, it is an unforgettable setting for a relaxed lunch, a family dinner or a romantic evening meal.

The restaurant opens at 11:30 and orders are accepted until 21:00 in the summer (Jun-Aug) and until 20:30 in winter.

During the day guests are welcome to visit LAVA Restaurant in their bathrobes to enjoy a relaxing meal while taking a break from bathing.

The menu

Contemporary dishes from natural Icelandic ingredients.

Lunch and evening menus range from light dishes to gourmet meals. These include delicious burgers, soups and sushi, as well as à la carte fish and meat courses. The emphasis is on fresh, dynamic flavours to match the inspiring setting.

In summer, the lunch buffet is an unmissable chance to sample national dishes, such as traditional meat soup, smoked lamb and skyr dessert.

The experience

An essential part of your Blue Lagoon visit.

During the day, you are welcome to enjoy a relaxing lunch in your bathrobe, while taking a break from bathing.

For an evening meal, begin with a drink at the upstairs bar and end with a visit to the spectacular viewing platform on the restaurant’s roof. From there you can look out across the lagoon, the lava fields and beyond – into the heart of Iceland.

The team

A passion for flavour, taste and service.

Head chef Viktor Örn Andrésson leads a team focused on providing a wonderful dining experience.

Before joining LAVA Restaurant Viktor was head chef at popular Reykjavík venue, Domo, and the high class Þverá River fishing lodge in the Icelandic mountains. To further his knowledge and experience he has spent time as observation/stagiaire at international Michelin star restaurants in France and New York. He is also a member of the Icelandic culinary team.

LAVA Restaurant’s team have an international perspective, regularly seeking inspiration by spending time at Michelin star restaurants such as London’s Texture.
