The key attraction, at least why Iceland stood out was the Blue Lagoon, an oasis for anyone taking the bloody trouble like me to go there and experience the relaxation and supposed healing powers of the aquarmarine geothermal seawater. It contains minerals, silica and algae. Towards the evening, warm vapours from the water got stronger and look bluer as the temperature drops. So romantic leh … a big hot pool for lovers and non-lovers.

A most perfect Saturday morning was achieved at the Blue Lagoon spa, undoubtedly the most relaxing experience that I believe I have ever had, and this is a high honour coming from someone who has been to some of the most peaceful and beautiful corners of the world.

Our trip to the Blue Lagoon was fantastic and amazing and worth the airfare alone. I should point out that I find the whole process of public bathing extremely tedious and usually avoid it like the plague, however, when in Iceland do as the Icelanders do, so we spent the afternoon in geo-thermal luxury and relaxation and as I'll never be able to describe the feeling of bathing in the volcanic heat of an outdoor lake in the freezing cold, I won't even try.
