History
1976 Lagoon is formed following the operation of the Suđurnes Regional Heating Corporation in Svartsengi geothermal area.
1981 People start bathing in the lagoon and people with psoriasis notice an improvement of their condition after bathing in the lagoon and rubbing their skin with the silica mud.
1987 The first public bathing facilities open.
1994 A Clinic for psoriasis patients opens. The Clinic is officially recognized by the Icelandic Ministry of Health.
1995 The first Blue Lagoon skin care products are launched.
1997 Blue Lagoon Ltd. starts operating a treatment center for psoriasis patients in cooperation with public health authorities
1999 The new Blue Lagoon Spa formally opens on July 15, 1999.
2000 Blue Lagoon skin care products are launched.
2002 Blue Lagoon skin care line for face is launched.
2003 Spa area opens at the Blue Lagoon and in-water spa treatments and massage become available.
2003 Blue Lagoon opens Blue Lagoon Shop in Reykjavik.
2005 Blue Lagoon Clinic is opened in June 2005.
2006 Blue Lagoon opens Blue Lagoon Shop in Reykjavik City Center.
2006 Blue Lagoon opens Blue Lagoon Shop and Spa at Keflavík International Airport.
2007 Blue Lagoon opens Blue Lagoon Shop in Magasin du Nord, Copenhagen Denmark.
