Environmental awards
Environmental issues are important to Blue Lagoon. A part of a unique ecocycle and product of Iceland‘s clean geothermal energy Blue Lagoon emphasizes environmental issues.
The Blue Lagoon has been granted the Blue Flag yearly from 2003. Blue Lagoon is now allowed to flag this respected environmental recognition all year round.
Blue Lagoon has also received the Iceland Tourist board’s Environmental Award.
Architecture and design
Architecture and design is an important part of the Blue Lagoon concept, and an emphasis is placed on the buildings to be in harmony with the natural environment. The design has been granted the following local and international awards:
